我們women之夜 @ 波蘿油與豬扒飽的頂級生活

年初時許久未見的朋友Leara突然跟我們連絡上,印象當中的Leara是個才華洋溢,

英文好的不得了的女孩子,這次他來告訴我們他參予的劇團的演出,現再她要訪

問各種不同年齡層的女人的故事來做為表演,他說他第一個就想到我和小謙,於

是我們就接受了他的訪問,依稀還記得大概是問一些有關於身為女人以及是否男

女平等的這些問題(有點給他忘了)後來Leara開心的告訴我們小謙的故事被選用

上了,並且邀請我們去看她的表演,很少去看藝術表演的我們倆個興奮極了(我只

記得小時候媽媽有帶我們去看過這一夜誰來說相聲)超期待的…

台中的中.外籍女性們的生活經驗,去探索這些問題,由於東西方文化觀點及看法

都很不同,於是衝擊出不同的火花,全劇中文.英文.台語都用上了,沒想到那些外國

朋友的中文如此溜…

Peering through the eyes of nearly 100 Taichung women, the scenes and monologues in 我們 Women discuss a full spectrum of issues, from university scandals to espionage, sex and power to chicken coop births. After months of interviewing some of Taichung’s foreign and Taiwanese women, 我們 Women is now bringing their most powerful stories to the stage.

This bilingual performance of Chinese and English incorporates movement, sound, comedy, and drama in a mélange of dramatic plots. This engaging production is the first of its kind in Taichung and allows us to hear real stories told by women that we walk by everyday:

“When I was eight I ran away from Japan... and have suffered for that independence.”

Interviewing women from many classes, cultures and ages (16- 63), the project gives an exciting glimpse into who your neighbor really is.

Director/Writer Miriam Mikiel Grill's main purpose for the project was to artistically document the cultural diversity and unique feminine ethos of this burgeoning international city that is Taichung. The cornerstone and springboard of the project was the theme of Choice- how women perceive the concept of choice in their everyday lives and how these differ due to class, culture, age, personality, etc.

The project began with the casting of 3 Taiwanese actresses and 3 foreign actresses, ranging in age from their 20s to their 40s and coming from Taiwan, South Africa, Canada and America. After extended research and discussion groups, the actresses developed the questions for the interviews. Now that the interviews have been conducted, and the script has been written, it is time for the final stage of the project: the theatrical stage!

This promises to be a powerful and entertaining performance, the likes of which Taichung has never seen. Don’t miss this opportunity to see this once in a lifetime show. A show that answers some of the questions of the long time mystery- What do women really think? What are they really hiding?...
